Sundays

When my children were young, a joy of Sunday morning was to see my wife and children when they arrived at church. I would be at work early and at times I first saw the kids was when they came forward for the children's sermon. Today it still makes my day when the kids come to church, when their boys (Connor, Liam, Logan, and Sam) come into my office on a Sunday morning, dressed in their little hand-knit vests, their eyes full of life. Logan walked in wanting us all to notice his new shoes. Liam couldn't get enough of my zen garden, and Connor was all smiles, just warming up into a morning conversation.
But there isn't enough time on Sundays. Still, the happy noise (and even a cry in complaint is a happy noise in my book), the energy, the flashes of blue eyes and smiles, is a great source of joy on a Sunday morning. Sundays are a work day for me, but moments with my wife, children, and grandchildren are pure Sabbath.
